Welcome to my personal freelance website! My name is Nyef, and I am a software developer. In this first blog post, I'll tell you a bit about myself and this site.
Freelance Software Developer
A brief introduction — I'm Nyef, I'm from Arnhem (Gelderland), and I work as a software developer.
I studied Computer Science at the HAN University of Applied Sciences (Arnhem location), I graduated in 2017.

After working for various companies, I became a freelancer. I chose this path for two reasons: I had developed my own SaaS platform that started gaining traction, and I was working on software assignments for various personal clients.
Nowadays, I enjoy taking on all kinds of assignments, from developing a database to drafting user stories.
Frontend, Backend & More
Among all the different aspects in the IT world, I'm most passionate about software development. Within that, I specialize in developing SaaS applications. I've built multiple SaaS platforms from A to Z.
This involves:
- Drafting documents with, among other things, user stories, requirements, use cases, and, where necessary, (UML) diagrams
- Technically implementing the final product: frontend, backend, database/SQL, and automated testing
- Hosting & deployment (operations): Ensuring the servers are properly configured and all software runs smoothly
- Maintenance & further development: Continuous integration & continuous development (CI/CD) — Continuously improving and delivering regular releases
Through my work over the past few years, I've developed various skills beyond software engineering, such as:
About This Blog
I enjoy blogging regularly. It helps me break down topics, share knowledge, and learn new things myself. For example, in this blog post, I explain what end-to-end encryption is.
On this site, Nyef.nl, I'll write about topics related to my skills, such as software development.
By the way, I developed this site and blog myself using (among other things):
- Next.js (i18n & static site generation)
- Tailwind CSS
- Apache webserver
Additionally, I write these blog posts in separate Markdown files, which get automatically rendered into HTML. Images in these posts are also optimized with ImageMagick (CLI) for slightly better (SEO) performance.

I wouldn't be a software developer if I hadn't built this site myself! Curious about the other technologies I work with? Check out my tech stack.
